From sehill at blm.gov Tue Mar 4 12:28:52 2025 From: sehill at blm.gov (Hill, Sarah E) Date: Tue, 4 Mar 2025 18:28:52 +0000 Subject: [SOS-PCA] March Collector Call Notes Message-ID: Hello Everyone, First, apologies for the confusion around the meeting invite! The problem lies with our automatic meeting forwarding settings and we will get it resolved asap. We are trying something new this season and still learning the quirks, so thank you for your patience. If there are issues in the future the same meeting link that was used for the February meeting will be used throughout the season, the issue is getting the invite copied every month on people's calendars. If you missed the meeting but have important updates to share with your agency coordinator, please reach out to them. Notes from the call are below, and I have attached the latest version of the target species list template. The SOS website has not been updated yet for 2024, but should be soon. I will send out an email to everyone once the edits have been approved. For the seeds, Sarah Hill March Collector Call Notes SOS website under construction ? Hope to have everything up to date soon ? will notify folks when updated * Blm.gov/sos short link still works * Long link to refresh any records or hyperlinks you have https://www.blm.gov/programs/native-plant-communities/native-plant-and-seed-material-development/collection/sos * Sidebar documents not up to date for 2025, we will share an announcement when it is ready to go. 2025 onboarding Follow all the steps in the Getting Started section of the SOS website (blm.gov/sos) to access registration and training forms. * Registration form run through * Essential that ROB forms and emails are titled correctly * Only people requiring data editing and reviewing access should register for geoplatform access. If people only need to attend the monthly call and stay informed throughout the season, do not create a geoplatform account. * Geoplatform updates * Regional Groups are open! * Everyone who submitted a ROB form as of last week should have editing permissions ? BLM GIS support folks who elevate permissions were at a Federal GIS conference last week * Kristy will be moving more people into their respective Preseason and Regional groups tomorrow. As a reminder Kristy manually moves people to their correct groups Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 9:30 am MT. Review GPLAT onboarding process * Everyone who submitted a ROB form as of last week should have editing permissions ? BLM GIS support folks who elevate permissions were at a Federal GIS conference last week * If you signed up and do not have access to the Preseason group, please reach out to me at ksnyder at blm.gov. 1. If you created a new GeoPlatform account, sign and return the Rules and Behavior form to Kristy Snyder, ksnyder at blm.gov. If you are using the exact same account from last season, you do not need to fill the Rules and Behavior (ROB) form again (email address and username are the same). The ROB form is what enables us to elevate your access to ?data editor? so you can collect and edit data. Incorrectly titling this document or delays in sending it to Kristy will result in a delay getting your account permissions elevated, and delays in using digital data tools. * Access the ROB form here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-OD-5B8QyLPfIbke73Wi7-sXvyJ-_7J5/view?usp=share_link . * Title the form "GPLAT_ROB_Organization_Username". Replace ?Organization? with the company you work for and ?Username? with your exact GeoPlatform username. EX: GPLAT_ROB_BLM_ksnyder14. * Send the email to Kristy with the subject ?SOS GPLAT Sign Up". * Once the form is submitted it will take up to 1-7 days to process your Remedy ticket, depending on when BLM administrative support manually elevates your role. Remedy tickets will be submitted Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 9 am MT, and you will be added to the ?Preseason SOS Group ? 2025? at this time. If the ROB form is not in Kristy?s inbox at that time, you will have your ticket submitted at the next timeslot. * To check if your role was elevated, select your username in upper right-hand corner, select ?My settings?, under General, check your role. If your role is Viewer, you will not be able to submit or edit forms. Please check that you have correctly submitted all the necessary information. * Once your role has been elevated, complete the preseason activity found in the Preseason GeoPlatform group (also available in the above Google Drive folder). 1. All BLM-EGIS/GeoPlatform users should: * Download Survey123 and Field Maps applications onto the device you will use for data collection. * All users will be added to a preseason geoplatform group and will complete the Preseason Activity, including those that participated in SOS in 2024. * You will be added to your regional group within a week of completing the preseason activity. Kristy will be manually moving people to their correct groups Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 9:30 am MT. If you did not specify a region in your Sign-Up Form, you will not be added to a regional group. * The preseason activity allows you to practice the basic digital data collection process. You will still need to attend an SOS training to learn the details of data collection and data management. The preseason activity can be completed either before or after you attend a training. ?Users will only be added to their regional collection group and allowed to begin collecting real SOS data after the preseason activity and training have been completed. * Access the preseason activity in the Preseason GeoPlatform group or in the Google Drive folder (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1AJww-LBpVobofsbsJ9pORhMOkF_pTvUB?usp=drive_link ). 2025 Training * Review training registration form and dates * https://forms.office.com/g/PXwr0yGK3g * Kelly Thomas, update on east coast NTC training * Moving forward with planning and have decided on the May 19-21st dates.
