<strong style="font-weight:700;box-sizing:border-box">Position Overview:</strong><span> </span>To coordinate and implement Seeds of Success (SOS) and National Seed Strategy efforts nationally for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) and provide curation
for scouting, collection, and seed bank data. Communicate with a wide variety of partners and audiences, including federal, state, local, and tribal agencies, elected officials; non-governmental organizations and interest groups; industry; traditional and
new media outlets; public land users; and other stakeholders. Respond to internal and external customer service requests, coordinate SOS trainings, and work with the Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program to foster SOS collaborations and partnerships with
FWS offices, partners, and local communities.</p>

This full-time position will be national in scope to support a coordinated FWS-wide effort and will be located at FWS headquarters in Falls Church, Virginia.</p>

<strong style="font-weight:700;box-sizing:border-box">Responsibilities</strong></p>
<p style="margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:15px;line-height:var(--line-height-base);box-sizing:border-box;background-color:rgb(255, 255, 255)">
<strong style="font-weight:700;box-sizing:border-box">In this role, you will be responsible for the following: </strong></p>
<ul style="box-sizing:border-box;margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:10px;line-height:1.42857;background-color:rgb(255, 255, 255)">
<li style="box-sizing:border-box">At the national level, the coordinator shall support planning for FWS collections in coordination with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to analyze past SOS collection to identify collection deficiencies and plan future SOS
program seed collections to overcome collection deficiencies. This planning includes a review of all SOS data and analysis of SOS geospatial data including seed transfer zones, natural resource geospatial datasets, species distribution information, and modeled
habitat data to identify collection deficiencies on public land at the national level.</li><li style="box-sizing:border-box">Work with FWS staff and partner agencies to determine species priority needs and potential target populations.</li><li style="box-sizing:border-box">Prepare quarterly summary reports and a final report that documents progress. The native seed coordinator shall develop data products based on analysis and planning and communicate the information to state office field crews
and leads. </li><li style="box-sizing:border-box">Assist in maintaining FWS national, state, and/or ecoregional datasets, program QA/QC, assist with coordination, communication, and outreach on FWS seed collection efforts. These tasks include, but are not limited to, managing
FWS SOS data and data requests, compiling technical reports, and other program data coordination as needed.</li><li style="box-sizing:border-box">Provide updates to key personnel via regular coordination meetings and develop a work plan that describes training, logistics, and deployment of field crews. </li><li style="box-sizing:border-box">The native seed coordinator shall ensure FWS collections data are incorporated into the national SOS database by reviewing all incoming SOS data forms and electronic submissions to ensure all required documentation is accurate
and complete. Where deficiencies are identified, the contractor shall work with appropriate FWS field office staff to obtain missing data (such as information on the data form itself, photos, herbarium vouchers). </li><li style="box-sizing:border-box">In coordination with the BLM PCRP Seed of Success curator, the USFWS national coordinator shall support development Seeds of Success and other program training materials to meet FWS needs and assist with implementation of program
training in FWS. As needed, the coordinator shall inform efforts to review and update SOS training materials, and coordinate FWS staff and contractor training rosters. The native seed coordinator shall plan and schedule FWS trainings in coordination with the
BLM and SOS curator, as needed beginning FY23.</li><li style="box-sizing:border-box">Provide leadership in guiding FWS SOS efforts to meet goals of the Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program. Help develop and foster partnerships within local communities. </li><li style="box-sizing:border-box">The native seed coordinator shall prepare annual reports documenting progress to implement seed collection teams across FWS.</li></ul>
