<b>Description: </b> <br>
Austin Peay State University’s (APSU) Southeastern Grasslands Initiative (SGI) invites applications for the SGI Seed Program Manager. This position will plan, coordinate, and lead the field work aspect of SGI Seed Program, under the supervision of the Seed
Program Director, and assist with the development and implementation of the Program, including SOS-Southeast, Plant It Forward, and the National Seed Strategy. This is a full-time, nontenure-track, position commencing August 2022 within the Southeastern Grasslands
Institute, part of the Center of Excellence for Field Biology. This is a 1.5 years initial contract with funding from the US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS). The term of the position may be extended should additional revenue lines be secured. The successful
candidate’s primary role will be to serve as the Manager for the Seed Program at SGI. The Manager will be expected to lead activities at a regional scale covering 10 southeastern U.S. states (AL, AR, GA, KY, LA, MS, NC, SC, TN, and VA), possibly to extend
to a larger region of the southeastern U.S. in future years. This person will report to the SGI Seed Program Director and will work closely with other team members at SGI and with partners. All work will be coordinated closely with the USFWS staff and the
Seeds of Success National Curator.</div>

<b>Description: </b>Perform supervisory duties up to 20% of the time.
<div>Identify vegetation communities and conduct vegetation inventories using basic botanical methods and techniques.</div>
<div>Maintain plant surveys and monitoring records in appropriate data base files, in addition to collection and preparation of voucher specimens for plants.</div>
<div>Conduct environmental data collection field surveys and maintain inventory of plant occurrence records.</div>
<div>Conduct training in habitat analysis, plant identification, and documentation in accordance with management plans and objectives.</div>
<div>Provide professional advice and guidance on botanical issues to colleagues and management.</div>
<div>Prepare informational responses to group and individual inquiries.</div>
<div>Implement management plans for the protection and enhancement of habitat for special status plants and control of noxious weeds or other invasive species.</div>
<div>Participate on interdisciplinary teams to coordinate the effective management of threatened, endangered and sensitive plant species.</div>
<div>Manage invasive species and native plant community restoration projects.</div>
<div>Develop or assist with developing sensitive plant lists and species management guidelines.</div>
<div>Assist in preparing assessments and management plans for the protection and enhancement of habitat for special status plants.</div>
<div>Prepare reports on population trend and community composition monitoring data for use in plant projects.</div>
<div>Plan the work to be accomplished by the unit to establish production or quality standards.</div>
<div>Identify developmental and training needs of employees.</div>
<div>Establish guidelines and performance requirements to employees.</div>

Serve as a botanist with staff responsibilities for developing, evaluating, and monitoring threatened, endangered and sensitive plant species, plant community and vegetation management.</div>
