For our big, coastal maples we use a two-person method where one person on the ground pulls a limb down using a purpose-built pole with a hook on the end. Their partner stands on a pruning ladder and harvests from the bent limb and helps the hook find the next
limb as they work their way around the tree. We're still only harvesting the bottom 1/3 of the tree, but that tends to be adequate and doesn't require any climbing.</div>

<div>We have a crew looking for tips for collecting from tall populations of <i>Olneya tesota</i> (desert ironwood) and <i>Parkinsonia florida</i> (blue paolo verde). </div>
<div>If anyone has experience with the species, please reply to the SOS listserv with your tips and tricks! <br>

<div>And/or if you have experience collecting from very tall trees, that would be a great discussion for the listserv.</div>
<div>Some common methods include the following, but please feel free to add your favorite!</div>
