The Fire Tower will give the public access to a visually exciting experience. This will assist the land managers in engaging community support for the less glamorous, but more essential projects that need to funded. Giving access to spectacular panoramic views of the Pine Barrens is the kind of project that will make this region a destination for tourism, and assist in generating the capital needed for the County's economic recovery.<br>

During the past year, Quality Parks has worked on a Fire Tower plan with community leaders to identify a suitable location, a preliminary budget, and a fundraising plan. Quality Parks became the de facto Project Manager for this project, keeping the Pine Barrens Commission staff, and its three stewardship councils informed. Quality Parks is also working with Federal, State, County, Town, and nonprofit representatives to discern the best possible location for the Fire Tower, and to address liability questions, including permit needs.<br>
<br>
Our best recommendation, to date, is to reconstruct a historic Forest Fire Lookout Tower at Dietz Hill (Manorville Hills) with an additional complementary interpretive display at the Volunteer Firefighter's Museum at Fireman's Park, Ridge, NY.<br>
