Proceedings of the 2022 Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA 2022) science stakeholder meeting: grow. adapt. regenerate—monitoring and responding to global change to promote resilient and productive forests. Abstract or Summary
The Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) program of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, implements the Nation’s only comprehensive inventory of forest resources across all ownerships. Through its continuous forest monitoring, FIA provides strategiclevel information necessary to evaluate the status and changing trends in forest resources and the sustainability of forest management practices; FIA data serve as the foundation for a broad array of scientific studies. These proceedings report findings from invited and contributed presentations and posters from the 15th biennial Forest Inventory and Analysis Science Stakeholder Meeting (FIA 2022, formerly known as the Forest Inventory and Analysis Symposium). Hosted by the Northern Research Station’s FIA program, the conference was held virtually November 14–17, 2022. Topics were based on the theme “Grow. Adapt. Regenerate: Monitoring and Responding to Global Change to Promote Resilient and Productive Forests” and included landscape change, remote sensing, ecocultural resources and people, forest disturbance, understory vegetation and invasive plants, and monitoring changes in forest composition. These proceedings include 15 papers and extended abstracts, a list of papers published in a special issue of Frontiers in Forests and Global Change, the conference program, and the titles of poster presentations.
