Southeastern Grasslands Institute (SGI) invites applications for one part-time SOS Collection Coordinator position, funded by an assistance agreement with the US Fish and Wildlife Service. The Coordinator will be part of the Native Seed Program team at SGI

nontenure-track position for 29 hours/week for 52 weeks, paid bi-weekly (<i>pay scale below</i>). Expected to be filled from February 2024- January 2025. The work will be performed four days a week at Southeastern Grasslands Institute (SGI) indoor facilities
in Clarksville, TN. Working from home possible for desk-based tasks. </span></div>

specimens. SGI is acting as the regional herbarium for the SOS-Southeast teams, which means that SGI receives and stores a specimen for each collection made in each of our target 10 states. The APSU Herbarium, which goes by the acronym APSC, is the largest
herbarium in the Mid-South U.S. with over 140,000 specimens. All specimens have been imaged, digitized, and are available for search on the SERNEC Portal. The Coordinator will take care of preparing all the specimens and ship them to the regional and national
(The Smithsonian Institution) curators. Occasionally, the Coordinator will help with managing other herbarium collections at APSU.<br>

such as treating the collections with no-pest strips and preparing them for shipment to the national cleaning facility. Occasionally, the Coordinator will help clean seeds for other local projects.<br>

information about seed germination ecology of target species and developing protocols for optimal storage, viability testing, and germination for target taxa. The Coordinator will conduct seed viability and germination tests to assist with development of propagation
protocols for those species and ecotypes that are understudied but desirable in restoration in the Southeast region and that will be valuable to US Fish and Wildlife Service restoration projects. The Coordinator will also take care of sharing the results on
open access database (e.g., the Seed Information Database).<br>
