Nature Center and Refuge, has become the first in Texas to be accepted into the national Old-Growth Forest Network.</span></div>

the kind of saw that was used to cut down trees in the region, said Nature Center manager Rob Denkhaus.</span></div>

belonging or identity, and a source of learning and inspiration. The old forests also support a complex network of canopy layers and plant and animal species, providing nesting places and sources of food, as well as nurturing seedlings, sequestering carbon
and building soil.</span></div>

forests to the east and the grasslands of the southern Great Plains. The ancient Western Cross Timbers forest once extended from southern Kansas into North Texas.</span></div>
