 to review their draft plant species lists in their latest Ecoregional Planting guide (for providing pollinator habitat). They have developed a draft plant list (attached) and are struggling to find some local experts to vett the list.</span></font></div>

</b></p>
<p style="margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif; color:black">Pollinator Partnership (P2), a North American pollinator non-profit, has created 32 Ecoregional
<span>Planting</span> Guides for the U.S. (</span><a href="https://pollinator.org/guides" target="_blank"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">https://pollinator.org/guides</span></a><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif; color:black">) and,
 with the opening of P2 Canada in 2013, 23 are now available for Canada (</span><a href="https://www.pollinator.org/canada" target="_blank"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">https://www.pollinator.org/canada</span></a><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif; color:black">). 
 Because of the great reception to these guides, we are expanding our guides to complete the continental U.S. and include more Canadian ecoregions.  The guides are designed to aid gardeners, farmers, schools, land managers, and others in
<span>planting</span> for pollinators, and are free for browsing or download on our website.  </span></p>
<p style="margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"> </span></p>
<p style="margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt"><b><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif; color:black">SCOPE OF
<span>LIST</span></span></b></p>
<p style="margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif; color:black">The
<span>list</span> for each ecoregion is meant to be comprehensive but not exhaustive.  The goal is to get all of the top native pollinator
<span>plants</span>, including <span>plants</span> that attract a range of pollinators (bees, flies, butterflies etc).  We do not want to overwhelm people, but want to provide enough choice that they can find many of these
<span>plants</span> from local nurseries.  In each guide we have room for approximately 100 trees/shrubs, herbaceous
<span>plants</span>, and shelter grasses.  The <span>list</span> contains a little more than that number now, but can be reduced as necessary and to include other important pollinator
<span>plants</span>.  </span></p>
<p style="margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"> </span></p>
<p style="margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt"><b><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif; color:black">Reasons for removing a
<span>plant</span> species</span></b><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif; color:black"> from the
<span>list</span> could include: 1. It does not grow well or is not native to that ecoregion. 2.  This
<span>plant</span> is not and will not likely be available from local nurseries.  We want
<span>plants</span> that mostly are available.  However, if a species is a great pollinator
<span>plant</span>, but not largely available at this time, we want to keep it in the
<span>list</span> as a ‘goal’ for nurseries and seed suppliers. 3. It is a toxic or weedy
<span>plant</span> and we should not promote its <span>planting</span>. 4. It is not a good pollinator
<span>plant</span>.</span></p>
<p style="margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt"><b><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif; color:black">Reasons for adding a native
<span>plant</span> species</span></b><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif; color:black"> to the
<span>list</span> include: 1. It’s an important native pollinator <span>plant</span> in the ecoregion. 2. It is a somewhat important native pollinator
<span>plant,</span> but is easy to grow and/or easy to find at local nurseries.</span></p>
