<p>World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the world’s leading conservation organization, seeks a Deputy Director, Responsible Forestry and Trade. The Deputy Director will lead the WWF-US team
that engages with North American-based companies and trade associations to catalyze responsible wood and paper sourcing through WWF’s Global Forest & Trade Network-North America program (GFTN-NA) and other strategic initiatives. Leads development and implementation
of GFTN-NA strategy, recruits new companies into GFTN-NA, manages selected company relationships, oversees budgets, workplans, and reporting processes, and ensures adequate program funding. Represents GFTN-NA internally within WWF-US and the WWF network,
and externally in public forums and with partner organizations. Also supports the Director, Responsible Forestry & Trade on WWF-US initiatives to reduce illegal wood imports into the US, strengthen Lacey Act enforcement, engage with public and institutional
purchasers on responsible procurement, and engage US consumers about FSC certification. <br></p>
<p>Responsibilities: <br></p>
<p>1. Lead WWF’s Global Forest & Trade Network – North America initiative to engage with US companies toward more responsible wood and paper sourcing, in support of WWF’s Forest goals.
</p>
<p>2. Manage selected GFTN-NA company outreach, recruitment and relationships.
</p>
<p>3. Ensure robust development and achievement of GFTN-NA annual workplans, budgets, fundraising, communications and reporting targets.
</p>
<p>4. Serve as external representative for the GFTN-NA program at meetings, conferences, workshops, press events and other forums.
</p>
<p>5. Forge productive relationships with other WWF teams and external partner organizations.
</p>
<p>6. Work with the Director, Responsible Forestry & Trade, and Deputy Goal Lead, Forests, to advance broader WWF-US market transformation goals around combatting illegal logging
and promoting responsible purchasing among public and institutional purchasers.
</p>
<p>7. Lead or participates in cross-cutting projects and initiatives, in coordination with other WWF-US goal and influence teams or with external partners.
</p>
<p>8. Completes other duties relying on own initiative and independent action or as assigned.
</p>
<p>Qualifications: <br></p>
<p>1. Position requires 8 years work experience and demonstrated success in in improving responsible supply chain management with or within the private sector.
</p>
<p>2. A Bachelor’s Degree is required. An MBA or Master's Degree in a relevant field such as Forest Products Trade, Supply Chain Management, Corporate Sustainability, Natural Resource
Management, Environmental Policy, or Economics preferred. </p>
<p>3. Thorough knowledge and understanding of forest or other commodity supply chain management and trade, product certification, sustainable supply chain best practices and corporate
environmental responsibility required. Knowledge of forest certification preferred.
</p>
<p>4. Proven ability to effectively represent and inspire action around high-visibility programs
</p>
<p>5. High-level of interpersonal, diplomatic and negotiation skills required.
</p>
<p>6. Ability to manage programs with innovation, creativity and, efficiency.
</p>
<p>7. Ability to effectively manage people by setting clear expectations, fostering productive relationships, and encouraging talents of team members.
</p>
<p>8. Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize under time constraints and multiple demands.
</p>
<p>9. Strong oral and written communication skills.
</p>
<p>10. Ability to thrive within a large organization across geographical, cultural and language (ESL) boundaries
</p>
<p>11. Ability to communicate effectively in English required; secondary language such as French, Spanish or Chinese desirable.
</p>
