She will cover effects of pesticide residues, pesticides found in foraged pollen, in bee hives, toxicity and sub-lethal effects on bees and other insects, and most ominously, the knowledge gaps in the industry.<u></u><u></u></font></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span><font face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif"> <u></u><u></u></font></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" align="center" style="text-align:center"><font face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif"><span>-----------</span><span style="color:windowtext"><u></u><u></u></span></font></p><p class="MsoNormal" align="center" style="text-align:center"><span><font face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif"><u></u> <u></u></font></span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><font face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Nathalie Steinhauer is a current PhD student of the vanEngelsdorp Lab at University of Maryland, department of Entomology. She graduated with a Master in Biological Sciences from <i>Universite Libre de Bruxelles</i>, Belgium and with a Master Research in Ecology, Evolution and Conservation from Imperial College London, UK. Her PhD project’s objectives are to apply epidemiological approaches to honeybee health and identify best management practices associated with reduced colony mortality. <u></u><u></u></font></p><p class="MsoNormal"><font face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif"><u></u> <u></u></font></p><p class="MsoNormal"><font face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif">As part of the Bee Informed Partnership (BIP), Nathalie has been responsible for organizing the National Honey Bee Colony Loss and Management Surveys for the past two years and published the results of this study in the Journal of Apicultural Research (<a href="http://www.ibra.org.uk/articles/US-honey-bee-colony-mortality-2012-13" target="_blank">http://www.ibra.org.uk/articles/US-honey-bee-colony-mortality-2012-13</a>). Nathalie also participated in a series of extension events to promote pollinator awareness in association with the student’s group PollinaTerps and the UMD Arboretum and Botanical Garden.<u></u><u></u></font></p><p class="MsoNormal"><font face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif"><u></u> </font><font size="4"><u></u></font></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:13.5pt"><u></u> <br></span></p></div></div>
