Survey on Access and Benefit Sharing in botanic gardens:</span></b><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'> In 2010 Governments around the world adopted the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit Sharing. As major custodians and users of plant resources, botanic gardens have a special responsibility to ensure that they act in accordance with the terms and spirit of this Protocol. We would be most grateful if you could take 15 minutes to complete a short survey that BGCI is conducting to assess levels of understanding and mechanisms for implementing the Protocol. Results will be used to identify needs and best practices, and will be compiled and shared with the global botanic garden community. The survey is available in English, French, Spanish and Chinese and will remain open until 1st October, 2012. International Agenda for Botanic Gardens in Conservation</span></b><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>: After an extensive period of consultation, BGCI has prepared an updated edition of the International Agenda. This is now available on the BGCI website for final review. Please have a look at this document and let us have any final comments by 15th October. International Decade on Biodiversity - presentation at the 11th Conference of the Parties to the CBD (COP11): </span></b><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>BGCI is participating in an event at COP11 co-organized with the World Association of Zoos and Aquaria (WAZA) and the International Council of Museums (ICOM) highlighting the role of collection-based institutions in raising awareness of the International Decade of Biodiversity. The MSBP-BGCI Fieldwork Fund - Call for applications 2012:</span></b><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'> The MSBP-BGCI Fieldwork Fund enables plant conservation organisations to undertake fieldwork to produce high quality conservation seed collections. The fieldwork, and the resulting collections, complements on-going plant conservation activities on the target species or habitats. This additional search functionality provides unique online access to data on more than 3,000 botanical institutions worldwide and demonstrates the collective conservation and research resources available within the global botanic garden community. As a result of this we are receiving an increasing number of requests for information from our databases. In order to ensure we can accurately represent and highlight the tremendous work being done by the global botanic garden community, it is important that our databases are kept up-to-date.
