Please RSVP to attend our first PCA meeting of 2024 where we welcome Jeff Carstens, Horticulturist, U.S. Department of Agriculture – Agricultural Research Service, who will discuss “The National Plant Germplasm System (NPGS) Ash Conservation Project”.

ABOUT THE PRESENTATION: The NPGS is a cooperative network, coordinated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Research Service (USDA-ARS), that is dedicated to preserving the genetic diversity of plants. Scientists must have access to genetic diversity to help bring forth new varieties that can resist pests, diseases, and environmental stresses. The NPGS aids scientists and their needs for genetic diversity by acquiring, preserving, evaluating, documenting and distributing germplasm and associated information.

ABOUT OUR PRESENTER: Jeff Carstens is a horticulturalist with the USDA North Central Regional Plant Introduction Station in Ames, Iowa, where he works with a team of scientists to expand the diversity of plant genetic resources collections in order to facilitate their conservation and utilization in research.

This meeting is held remotely and open to all. More information about the presentation can be found on our PCA Meetings page<https://www.plantconservationalliance.org/meetings>.
