Overview: The North Carolina Botanical Garden is hiring a full-time permanent Conservation Grower!

Duties:  The Conservation Grower, part of the Conservation team at the North Carolina Botanical Garden, will support and expand our native plant materials development program, Plant Materials of the Atlantic Southeast (PMAS). Launched in 2019, PMAS provides genetically appropriate whole plant and bulk seed for ecological restoration at multiple scales and develops regional ecotypes, ultimately aiming to increase the diversity of plant materials available for restoration of native plant communities. The primary duties of the Conservation Grower include propagation of native plants, maintenance and improvement of the Mason Farm Biological Reserve nursery, creation and upkeep of seed increase plots, collection and processing of farmed and wild seeds, maintenance of seed facilities, and assisting with the curation of the seedbank. This position is responsible for keeping detailed records, preforming data entry and documentation of best practices. The Conservation Grower will work with stakeholders maintain and build partnerships that directly provide plant materials and/or the development of materials, will participate in working groups, committees and networks that promote larger native plant materials in the southeast US, and will participate in research and grant opportunities. In addition, the Conservation Grower will be responsible for working with volunteers and temporary employees that directly support the program. The Conservation Grower will represent the North Carolina Botanical Garden at professional meetings and in outreach and education.

Eligibility: all US citizens

Compensation: $38,621-$47,203
