Position: The School of Life Sciences at the University of Nevada Las Vegas is seeking to fill a professional staff position entitled; “Field and Greenhouse Operational Manager.”

Agency/Organization: University of Nevada Las Vegas

Location: Las Vegas, NV

Overview: The position has two major responsibilities: 1) manage the day to day operations of the Department’s Center for Urban Water Conservation located in North Las Vegas (four days per week) and 2) oversee the operations of the Department’s Greenhouse facilities located on campus at UNLV (one day per week). This position will entail working with faculty and graduate students conducting research at both facilities, overseeing student assistants and volunteers, and maintaining the facilities and research projects in top operational conditions (greenhouse maintenance, field plot maintenance, weather station and equipment maintenance, irrigations, fertilizations and weed and pest control).

Compensation: Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.

Who can apply: Minimum qualifications are an undergraduate degree in science (biology, horticulture or agronomy preferred) and 3+ years of relevant work experience beyond the bachelor’s degree. An M.S. degree can substitute for 2 of the 3 years of work experience. The position does require working outside in the heat of summer, lifting safe limits and working with agricultural chemicals. Competitive applicants will have experience working with and maintaining both greenhouse and field instrumentation. Top applicants will also have computer skills (Word, Excel and Statistical programs), and a basic understanding of chemistry as associated with soil-plant-water analysis
