We have a Scientist-in-Parks intern who will work with me on our vegetation monitoring programs, a GBI restoration program lead, and a GBI invasive plant program lead. Scientists-In-Parks Biology Assistant (Apply by June 12, or up to 100 applicants)

The biology assistant will play a key role in Joshua Tree National Park's vegetation monitoring program, working in collaboration with NPS staff and biologists from University of California Riverside's Center for Conservation Biology. The biology assistant will collect data on 24 shrub and tree monitoring plots in the fall, 25 wildflower plots in the spring, and establish up to 40 additional vegetation plots throughout the year. The biology assistant will also assist with rare plant monitoring and fuels treatment monitoring efforts on a regular basis.

$480/week, housing provided at the Luckie Study Center, $350 relocation allowance, and ~$6,195 Americorps education award

Restoration Technician (APPLY ASAP)

The Technician will restore native plant communities by designing and implementing restoration treatments, planting seeds and container-grown plant materials, constructing wire cages to protect plants from herbivory, providing periodic irrigation for an extended period following planting, and installing horizontal and vertical mulch.

$19.00 to $22.50 per hour depending on experience

Invasive Plant Technician (APPLY ASAP)

The Technician will be responsible for leading an early detection, rapid response program for invasive plants, for continuing ongoing manual and chemical control treatments of infestations, for treating new infestations, and for monitoring treatment effectiveness. The Technician will be responsible for properly applying herbicides to control invasive plants.

$19.00 to $22.50 per hour depending on experience
