Compensation: $66,750 - $104,011 per year

Responsibilities:

  *   Develops a comprehensive research program focused on the long-term effects of disturbance (drought, invasive species, fire) on shortgrass steppe and desert grasslands, and pinyon-juniper woodlands.
  *   Evaluates ecosystem responses to drought, fire, invasive species, human uses, and other disturbances
  *   Develops tools, guidelines, and methods for managers of dryland ecosystems to increase resilience and recovery of ecosystem structure and function in response to disturbance.
  *   Research in measuring and scaling/modeling above- and below-ground carbon, water, and nutrient pools and fluxes in dryland ecosystems in response to drought, fire, and other disturbances;
  *   Scientist provides delivery of research results to peer groups, land managers, and restoration and conservation ecologists
  *   Research products may include synthesis documents, websites, reports, assessment tools, data repositories, field tours, and presentations at symposia and workshops.
  *   Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work
  *   Extensive knowledge of plant physiological ecology; soil biogeochemistry; procedures for range inventory and monitoring; statistical principles of experimental research design and analysis; and some knowledge of fire and disturbance ecology.
