Program Description: Learn about iNaturalist as a citizen science tool, and how the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission uses this tool in their efforts to conserve the native plants of Arkansas.

Speaker Bio: Diana Soteropoulos is a Botanist, ANHC Herbarium Collections Manager, and the Arkansas Herbarium Digitization Coordinator at the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission. She is a doctoral candidate in Environmental Sciences at Arkansas State University and has an MA in Biology from the College of William and Mary and a BS in Biology and Science Communication from Winthrop University. Her research interests include community science, floristics, conservation biology, population and community ecology. Diana worked as a field botanist with the National Ecology Observatory Network for four years, at the Savannah River Ecology Lab for three years, and has twelve years of herbarium digitization experience. Diana has coordinated with students, volunteers, and community scientists on many projects, from plant propagation and invasive species removal to imaging, transcribing, and georeferencing herbarium specimens.
