 Good afternoon,

I wanted to inform you of an important funding opportunity for botanical
work taking shape in California. You don't need to live in California to
sign on in support :)

The joint budget
<https://sbud.senate.ca.gov/sites/sbud.senate.ca.gov/files/Legislative%20Version%20Summary%20Final.pdf>
released last week by the California State Senate and Assembly (see lines
725 and 726 here
<https://sbud.senate.ca.gov/sites/sbud.senate.ca.gov/files/2022-23%20Legislative%20Budget%20Package%20Actions.pdf>),
includes an unprecedented opportunity to invest in science that will
support biodiversity and land management for decades to come. The
Legislature's budget agreement has *$40M to complete the statewide
finescale vegetation map and $13M to address the California Natural
Diversity Database (part of the natural heritage program network) backlog*.

To ensure these investments are carried in the Governor's budget as well,
we are sending a letter

the benefits of these programs and are asking for your sign-on through this
form

by THIS WEDNESDAY morning, June 8.

Please feel free to forward this message to other people and organizations
in your networks.
