From the Center for Plant Conservation:
House Passes Great American Outdoors Act
On Wednesday, July 22, 2020 The House of Representatives voted to
approve the Great American Outdoors Act. This hard-fought victory has
been a long time coming.
Thanks to all of you who called and wrote your Representatives to vote
for this important conservation bill. This victory wouldn’t have
happened without you.
The Great American Outdoors Act achieves the dual goals of protecting
America’s federal public lands and repairing deteriorating
infrastructure, thereby allowing more Americans to access public
lands. These critical investments will benefit future generations. The
Great American Outdoors Act is important for plant conservation
because it contains language that requires native plants and natural
infrastructure to be used in the projects funded by the bill.
The Great American Outdoors Act passed both the Senate and the House
with wide bipartisan support and will now go to the President’s desk
for his signature.
