Zone Geneticist



*Deadline: March 15, 2019



*Overview: The Okagogan-Wenatchee National Forest will soon advertise a
permanent, full time Zone Geneticist position with a duty station of
Wenatchee, Washington. This unique and exciting position serves as a
technical specialist in the field of genetic resource management, which
encompasses genetic conservation, plant selection and breeding, and
planning/coordinating/ recommending forest tree seed and native plant
material sources for reforestation and re-vegetation activities and
objectives. The incumbent will work closely with other NFS and research
geneticists, as well as silviculturists, botanists, forest health
protection specialists, nursery specialists and others on issues regarding
genetic diversity, plant adaptation, disease and insect resistance, plant
material development, seed quality and identity, seed movement, and climate
change adaptation.
