HEMPSTEAD PLAINS RESTORATION Volunteer Event
FRIDAY APRIL 13, 2018: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
101 James Doolittle Blvd, Uniondale, NY 11553-3637, United States
Join us as we clean up the Francis Purcell Preserve, a rare and valuable
portion of the Hempstead Plains. This piece of land has been spared from
development and is home to rare, threatened and endangered species.
Unfortunately, it has been devoured by litter and invasive species. In
partnership with Nassau County and the Marriott Hotel, on Friday, April 13,
2018 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM the Friends of the Hempstead Plains welcomes
volunteers to visit and help restore this beautiful county preserve. Once a
part of the historic Hempsead Plains, our goal is to restore this unique
open space prairie habitat for wildlife and provide passive recreation
trails open to the public.
All volunteers are welcome.
Gloves, tools, and snacks will be provided.
Preserve Entrance:
North End of James Doolittle Blvd.
