[PCA] In the news: United States joins pioneering plant genetic resources treaty

This FAO Treaty pertains to 64 crop and forage plants (see details below):

13 March 2017, Rome - The United States is the newest member of the
International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture, a
ground-breaking instrument that works to strengthen global food security by
promoting the conservation, sharing, and sustainable use of agricultural
plant genetic resources.

More about the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and
Agriculture(ITPGRFA):

The ITPGRFA Treaty was adopted in 2001 and came into force in 2004. It
establishes the ‘multilateral system of access and benefit sharing’ for 64
specifically identified crops and forages that account for 80 percent of
all human consumption. The crops and forages are found at the link to Annex
1, below.
