[PCA] Fwd: WEBINAR: Integrating Climate Change into State Wildlife Action Plans in Maine (Dec 7, 1-2:30pm EST)

De Angelis, Patricia patricia_deangelis at fws.gov
Mon Dec 5 15:35:42 CST 2016

Please see the information below about an upcoming presentation that may be
of interest.

According to Maine's Wildlife Action Plan website, "Currently, the list of
[Species of Greatest Conservation Need] SGCN is limited to wildlife species
and does not include plants. However, future editions of the WAP will
explore inclusion of plants that are important to wildlife SGCN or are
indicators of high quality natural communities, in addition to those that
are in need of conservation for other reasons, as they are also essential
elements of the ecosystems supporting Maine's wildlife." (
http://www.maine.gov/ifw/wildlife/conservation/action_plan.html)

(NOTE: This is actually true for many State Wildlife Action Plans, though I
don't know the latest statistics.)

It would be of interest to learn whether Maine's efforts to integrate
climate change into State Wildlife Action Plans will include more focus on
plant species.
