POST‐DOCTORAL PLANT ECOLOGIST/RANGELAND SCIENTIST
USDA ‐ Agricultural Research Service

Position Title, Series and Grade: Research Ecologist 408 or Research
Rangeland Management Specialist 454, GS‐11
Salary Range: $58,562.00 to 76,131.00 per year

Duties:
The incumbent will work collaboratively with other scientists to develop
methods to reduce the risk of megafires and mediate the effects of
wildfires. This will include conducting research investigating the effects
of livestock grazing on fire risk and behavior and post‐fire plant
community recover. The incumbent will also estimate grazing effects on fire
behavior across a wide range of weather conditions. Duties will also
include publishing research results in peer‐reviewed scientific journals.

Qualifications:
Applicants MUST BE A CITIZEN of the United State of America. A recent Ph.D
in plant community ecology, rangeland science, or close related field is
required. Experience conducting fire and plant community research is
required. Knowledge of grazing research and plant community dynamics in
rangelands is required. Ability to publish research in peer‐reviewed
scientific journals is required. Experience conduction grazing‐fire
research is desired, but not required.

LOCATION
The incumbent will be station at the Northern Great Basin Experimental
Range Experiment Station/Eastern Oregon Agricultural Research Center in
Burns, OR.

START DATE:
Summer/Fall 2015

OPEN PERIOD:
Position will be open until a viable candidate is hired (Summer/Fall 2015)
