This program will include an indoor training session that introduces
beneficial insects (pollinators and natural enemies of insect pests), the
ecosystem services they provide, and methods of conservation. Participants
will also gain hands-on experience during the outdoor component including
identifying beneficial insects and the plants they are visiting in the

The Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation, the USDA Northeastern
Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) program, the USDA
Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), and Duke Farms are pleased

The honey bee is easily recognized as an important pollinator. However,
North America is home to more than 4,000 species of native bees.

During this event, participants will attend an indoor training session that
introduces native bees of New Jersey, the ecosystem services they provide,
and methods of conservation. Participants will also gain hands-on
experience identifying bees visiting flowering plants during a tour of Duke
Farm's restored meadows.
