Conservation Ecologist at Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center

Purpose
Manages all aspects of the Wildflower Center's Invasive Species programs
including the Invaders of Texas Program, the Sentinel Pest Network, and
general Program Administration. Serves as the department's GIS specialist.

Essential Functions
Create and maintain partnerships with conservation groups, city state and
federal agencies to achieve strategic objectives and organizational goals
of the invasive species program. Partner and work with Texas Parks and
Wildlife Texas Nature Trackers, Texas Master Naturalists, Master Gardeners,
and other citizen science organizations to recruit new volunteers to the
Invaders of Texas program. Organize and administer workshops in different
regions of Texas to train citizen scientists in the use of the Invaders of
Texas Early Detection and Reporting Toolkit, the Sentinel Pest Network and
other invasive species programs and initiatives. Supervise invasive species
programs/projects and develop a vigorous, externally funded program to
support invasive species programs/projects. Manage project budgets related
to the invasive species program. Manage updates and oversee changes to
www.texasinvasives.org. Function as a community resource through speaking
engagements, professional presentations, and publication. Manage GIS
database, develop field sampling procedures using GIS, serve as lead
project logistician and cartographer during field season, compile and post
process field mapping data. Serve as the department's GIS specialist
providing support for National Park Service vegetation surveys, logistical
expertise for field surveys and other vegetation mapping projects.
