Climate Change Specialist

There is an opening for a Climate Change Specialist (Extensive experience
required) in Washington, DC.  Salary range: Up to $635 daily depending on
salary history; Open period: August 9 – 18, 2013; Position information:
Consulting opportunity; Performance dates: On/about September 1 - October
25, 2013; Duty locations: USAID/Washington; Title: USAID/W Climate Change
Specialist; Position number: 10174.

Background: USAID’s climate change program works with dozens of partners
inside and outside the Agency to deliver the best available expertise and
support to USAID Missions, partner countries and communities.  Our climate
team works closely with the Department of State, NASA and other U.S.
agencies to support the Global Climate Change Initiative, a broad U.S.
commitment to engage with global partners to curb greenhouse gas emissions
and build resilience to climate change.  USAID plays a key role in the
GCCI, delivering programs and support to over 50 bilateral and regional
Missions.  Our on-the-ground programs provide important backing for U.S.
positions in the international climate negotiations taking place under the
United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Scope of Work: The GCC Office is looking for a Climate Change Specialist
that will assist in conducting portfolio wide reviews of Mission programs
that will help further our programs and projects.  The contractor will gain
valuable development knowledge on a series of countries worldwide that work
on climate change issues and have the opportunity to work with members of
our teams.  Ideally the candidate will have extensive experience with
working with a wide range of GCC Missions and familiar with portfolio
review processes and templates.

Deliverables: The contractor will be responsible for the following
activities: Using existing data, documents, and discussions with key
counterparts finalize Portfolio Review templates and documents; Organize
data and scheduling between Washington and Missions; Review and condense
existing documents for the Missions; Liaison between the Climate Change
Office and other regional bureaus.

QUALIFICATIONS: The following qualifications are preferred: Extensive
experience with working with portfolio and document reviews; Experience
with operational plans, and other USG development approval documents.
 Advanced degree in Environmental Science and/or Climate change.
 Substantial knowledge and experience in the areas of Sustainable
Landscapes, Clean Energy and Adaptation.  Demonstrated capability to
produce quality design and procurement documents and PowerPoint’s in a
timely fashion.
