[PCA] Environmental Concern Seeks Stipend Vol. - Habitat Restoration and Environmental Education

Opening for a Chesapeake Conservation Corps Stipend Volunteer at
Environmental Concern Inc.
Applications due April 19, 2013 at 5:00 pm

Environmental Concern, a non-profit organization located in St.
Michaels, MD focused on wetland restoration, education and horticulture
is seeking a stipend volunteer.  The volunteer will work with wetland
education programs for K-12 students, educators and community members.
The position will involve work with schoolyard habitat creation and use
including rain gardens and wetlands.  

The program provides service-learning opportunities and green job
training for young people through environmental and energy conservation
projects. This initiative, supported by the Trust, Constellation Energy,
and the state of Maryland, pairs young adults with organizations that
provide hands-on environmental, leadership, and technical training
opportunities for a one-year term of service.

The Chesapeake Bay Trust anticipates placing around 25 Corps Volunteers
in Host Organizations throughout Maryland for one year terms of service,
with service to begin August 27, 2013. Individuals will be between the
ages of 18 and 25 years at the time of enrollment. Corps Volunteers will
receive stipends of $15,500 per year plus health insurance, administered
by the Trust. 

At EC the Volunteer will:

*	get trained in all aspects of wetland and watershed
conservation; 
*	assist with wetland workshops and environmental education
programs;
*	help install native wetland and rain garden habitats at area
schools or places of learning; 
*	improve stewardship and maintenance of existing schoolyard
habitats; 
*	engage in helping schools towards Maryland Green Schools
Certification;
*	assist with restoration work including oyster programs, native
wetland plant propagation, and living shoreline restoration; and,
*	encourage students and community members to become stewards of
the Chesapeake Bay.
