Salary Range of $96,690 to $147,857 per annum

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research
Service (ARS), Great Basin Rangelands Research Unit in Reno, Nevada is
seeking a permanent, full-time scientist to lead a dynamic/diverse
research group and to conduct personal research targeted at developing
innovative approaches for maintaining and enhancing the rangelands of
the Great Basin to meet national agricultural production and
environmental conservation objectives.  This position provides an
exciting leadership opportunity to improve the productivity and
sustainability of livestock production while improving ecosystems
services including water resources, wildlife habitat, air quality,
recreational opportunities and biodiversity. The Research Unit is
located on campus at the University of Nevada-Reno.  Excellent ongoing
collaborations and partnerships exist with the University of Nevada,
as well as with agricultural and natural resource conservation groups.
  The Reno area provides year-round recreational opportunities, with
close proximity to Lake Tahoe, numerous ski facilities, and pristine
areas for biking, camping, hunting, fishing and mountain climbing.  A
PhD in Ecology, Plant Physiology, or Rangeland Management is desired.
