We are currently working on an article about nurseries that specialize in growing native plants for use in restoration projects around the country. I would like to provide our author with some contacts she could interview for insight on how native plant restoration projects function on both a national and regional basis, and the interaction between government agencies and private firms. If you are willing to be interviewed, or can recommend someone who you think would be helpful to speak with for this article, please contact me off list. Our audience includes home gardeners and professional horticulturists and landscape designers.

Thanks,
David

Dear Botanic Garden Colleagues,

To achieve the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation's targets, BGCI US is working with the United States Botanic Garden to implement recommendations from the 2010 North American Collections Assessment<http://www.bgci.org/usa/NACA2010report>. This includes increasing the quality and quantity of data held in BGCI's PlantSearch and GardenSearch databases for the U.S., and we want to make sure we have accurate information for your garden!

What you can do: find your institution in GardenSearch<http://www.bgci.org/garden_search.php>, register as a Garden Editor<http://www.bgci.org/cms/garden_apply.php>, login and update your GardenSearch profile, and upload a current list of taxa maintained by your garden. Given the dynamic nature of botanic gardens and living collections, we encourage all gardens to update their profiles and collections data on an ANNUAL BASIS.

Please participate by Friday, November 18, 2011 - don't hesitate to contact us if you have questions or need assistance. Find out more at our website: www.bgci.org/usa/MakeYourCollectionsCount<http://www.bgci.org/usa/MakeYourCollectionsCount>.

Every garden can make important contributions to plant conservation via PlantSearch and GardenSearch:

* It is quick, easy, and free.

* Find out the conservation value of your collections, and receive a names audit.

* Connect your collections, expertise, and facilities to a global botanical community.

* Expand the collective knowledge of plant diversity in cultivation.

Thank you for supporting this global conservation effort. We look forward to hearing from you!
