We're very pleased to roll-out SEEDZONE MAPPER, a new web-based
application for viewing and downloading seed zone maps for use in plant
material development, gene conservation, and restoration. Data sources
include species-specific seed zones based on common garden studies, as
well as climate-based provisional seed zones for species lacking genetic
information. This tool was developed in collaboration with scientists at
the USFS Western Wildland Environmental Threat Assessment Center (WWETAC,
Prinveville, OR).
Please see the poster below for additional information on SEEDZONE
MAPPER, and check-out the application itself at
http://www.fs.fed.us/wwetac/threat_map/SeedZones_Intro.html
Users can also evaluate seed zone information in relation to other spatial
data served up on WWETAC's Threat Mapping website
(http://www.fs.fed.us/wwetac/threat_map)
including climate change projections and wildfire risk.
New data sources will be added to SEEDZONE MAPPER as information becomes
available. Please share the website with other users who may be
interested.
Thanks,
Vicky
