Duties
- Develops national guidance in conjunction with other national program
leaders/coordinator on the use, acquisition, and storage of seed to meet
BLM's rehabilitation and restoration needs.
- Establishes specifications and evaluation criteria for purchasing seed
based on knowledge and experience.
- Coordinates the annual consolidated seed buys, usually 2 or more a year
for the Field Offices and/or District Offices.
- Promotes the increase in availability of major seed varieties purchased
by BLM with a focus on native plant materials for use.
- Designs and implements procurement strategies in order to acquire high
quality seeds.
- Provides technical leadership and management guidance to the Seed Supply
Specialist at the Boise and Ely Regional Seed Warehouse.
- Provides information on new and existing seed releases to managers and
resource specialist in all states.
- Coordinates the distribution of seed to all the requesting offices from
the various storage and acquisition sources.
- Attends and represents the Bureau at interagency forums related to seed
and plant materials.
