[PCA] June Volunteer Events on Mt Tam (National Trails Day!)

Trail Crew – National Trails Day
Saturday, June 5, 2010, 9 AM to 2 PM
Join MMWD Join in celebrating National Trails Day® on Mt. Tam.
Volunteers will participate in trail maintenance, vegetation management
and installation of puncheons and causeways along Pine Point Trail on
the shoreline of Bon Tempe Lake. Afterwards, stay for a free barbeque
lunch from 12:30 to 2:00. Meet at Lagunitas Picnic Area at 9 AM, located
at the end of Sky Oaks Road, off Bolinas Road in Fairfax. Please
pre-register for this event.
 
Habitat Restoration – Lagunitas Creek
Saturday, June 12, 2010, 9 AM to noon
Improve habitat for salmon by restoring native plant populations. We
will be removing periwinkle and installing sheet mulch/erosion control
fabric. Please meet at 9 AM in the Leo Cronin Fish Viewing parking lot
located at Shafter Bridge on Sir Francis Drake Blvd, near the confluence
of San Geronimo Creek and Lagunitas Creek in West Marin, just before
Samuel P Taylor State Park. This is part of our Gateway project, funded
by the State Coastal Conservancy and the California Resources Agency's
River Parkways program.
 
Habitat Restoration – Father’s Day Weekend
Saturday, June 19, 2010, 9 AM to noon
Spend the day outside with Dad! Restore oak woodland and native
grassland habitat by removing outcompeting Douglas fir on Pumpkin Ridge.
Meet at Lagunitas Picnic Areaat 9 AM, located at the end of Sky Oaks
Road, off Bolinas Road in Fairfax.

Dress for changing weather and bring a hat, sunscreen, work shoes, your
lunch, a water bottle and lots of friends! We provide snacks, water,
instruction and inspiration. All volunteers under 18 must have a
