Denver Botanic Gardens specialist is high on rare alpine plants

At Denver Botanic Gardens, Wildflower Treasures is neither as splashy as 
the water-lily pond nor as refined as the Japanese garden. The sun-soaked 
hardscape where dozens of concrete-mix hypertufa troughs contain tiny 
plants is nowhere near as romantic as the perennial walk or as fragrant as 
the rose garden.
