Changes in native prairie could hurt duck population

STUTTGART, Ark. | Somewhere among the rice and soybean fields of eastern 
Arkansas is a small plot of land, perhaps two acres, that doesn't look 
like its surroundings. The grassy patch is all that remains of the native 
Grand Prairie.

Known for its rich, fertile, heavy clay soil that has the ability to hold 
enough moisture to grow rice, virtually all of the Grand Prairie was 
plowed up by farmers and put into agricultural production.
