2009 Wetland Trainings at
Environmental Concern's Wetland Learning Center
Growing Wetland Professionals Since 1972
If the field of wetlands in the U.S. had a designated birthplace, a 13-acre
plot of land at the headwaters of San Domingo Creek in historic St.
Michaels, Maryland would have to be in the running. It was here that in
1972, Dr. Edgar Garbisch - now considered the grandfather of wetlands -
began his pioneering work that would result in propagation protocols for
hundreds of wetland plants, effective restoration methodologies and
thousands of wetland practitioners who sought his advice, guidance, and
tutelage. Dr. Garbisch's legacy is alive and well at Environmental Concern
where the world's first wholesale wetland plant nursery is still growing,
the restoration department is still restoring, and the education department
still educating. If your professional development goals for 2009 include
wetlands, choose Environmental Concern where wetlands past, present and
future collide.
