New England Wild Flower Society announces 13 GIANT wood sculptures by David Rogers and all-new Web-of-Life Extravaganza events come to Garden in the Woods in Framingham, Massachusetts July 12-October 31 for its exclusive New England appearance, and first return since 2004. 

 

July 12 - GRAND OPENING with live music by Beatles tribute band HELP!

 

"Meet the Beetles" with wonderful live music and family fun with bug-ventures and costumed characters at the opening. Get the BIG BUGS map stamped at two weekends and receive a free BUGOLOGIST pin at the BUGMOBILE. Build a Bug at the BIG BUGS interactive park, and join in the fun!

BIG BUGS Sculpture Exhibit and Web-of-Life Extravaganza, July 12 - Oct 31, 2008. David Rogers' dino-sized sculptures on 45 acres with 1,500 varieties of native plants. Special extravaganza events each weekend. Explore THE WORLD OF INSECTS at the BUGMOBILE with crafts and live bugs. Create a sculpture at the Build-a-Bug Interactive Park. Take a Grasshopper jump. Submit digital images to the BIG BUGS online gallery at bigbugsart at newenglandWILD.org. Admission $8 for adults; $6 seniors/students; $4 youths 3-18. Free for members and children under 3. July 26-27 DRAGONFLY WEEKEND at BIG BUGS Enjoy a cool stop by the Lily Pond and view a giant dragonfly. Do dragonfly crafts at the BUGMOBILE and get your map stamped twice for a cool BUGOLOGIST pin. Look for costumed character "ODO" at Garden in the Woods. 

 

July 29 week + Aug 5 week CATTAIL NATURE KIDS Nature programs, Tuesdays through Fridays on dates in late July and August . Check online for exact times for ages 5-6, 7-9, and 10 and 11. August 20, INSECT SAFARI 10 a.m.-12 noon Follow the BIG BUGS Trail and search for real bugs in their actual habitats. For grades 2-5 Preregistration required at registrar at newenglandwild.org. $12M/$14/NM. 

 

August 23-24 BUTTERFLY FESTIVAL at BIG BUGS See the peak of spectacular meadow bloom with butterflies at every blossom. Make crafts, take a butterfly walk, and celebrate these lovely creatures.

 

Sept 13-14 HAPPY HALLOWEEN WITH DADDY LONGLEGS at BIG BUGS Enjoy a low-key Halloween celebration and wear your buggiest costume to the BIG BUGS show. Walk under the biggest longlegs you ever saw and celebrate!

 

October 4-5 STUDENT ART SHOW Submit your nature and bug art to display at the Garden. We'll share a selection of your images online, too. Sponsored by Artscope Magazine. Enjoy assassin bug weekend, and savor late-blooming fall plants, berries, and foliage.

 

October 8-9 HAPPY HALLOWEEN WITH BIG BUGS SPIDER WEEKEND Enjoy a low-key Halloween celebration and wear your buggiest costume to the BIG BUGS show. Make spider crafts and enjoy!
