Conservation Project Specialist

Salary $49,611 to $69,013 DOE, Full Benefits: medical, dental, retirement

FTE position with flexible schedule, some weekend work is required

This position is with the King Conservation District which is located in 
Renton, WA.  This professional works as a team of conservationist that 
provides conservation information and resources to land owners and the 
general public within King County.  Duties include:  plan, organize, and 
coordinate natural resource, water quality, and stream/ wetland 
enhancement projects; provide technical support to the King Conservation 
District (District) Landowner Incentive Program; organize and coordinate 
volunteer events; provide assistance at the Wetland Plant Cooperative and 
Native Plant Holding Facility (WPC); conduct site visits for the general 
public and local landowners on natural resource management practices and 
prepare technical site visit reports: coordinate all aspects of the 
District's large and well attended annual bare-root plant sale; work with 
a number of agencies and government entities; write and manage grants; 
write educational fact sheets, articles and publications; and conduct 
educational seminars and workshops.

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelors Degree (B.A. or B.S.) in environmental science or a 
closely related natural resources field and
* Three (3) years of directly related professional experience. A 
Masters Degree in environmental science or a closely related natural 
resources field may be substituted for 1 year of directly related 
professional experience.
* Knowledge and experience in stream and wetland restoration 
techniques, native plant species, native plant propagation, and uses of 
native plants to enhance fish and wildlife habitat.
* Experience planning and organizing restoration projects, working 
with the public and private landowners, and supervising volunteer and 
conservation corps work crews.
* Communicate with a wide range of citizens and professionals and 
others in the conservation field using persuasive and negotiations 
communications skills
* Currently hold or can obtain a valid Washington State Drivers 
License.

Desired Qualifications

* Knowledgeable of Puget Sound watersheds, common rural and urban land use 
practices, and the resource management issues, knowledge/experience 
installing fish enhancement projects; knowledge of understanding of 
physical stream processes, e.g. hydraulics, channel configuration, and 
geomorphology.
* Experience preparing site maps/plans using drafting software such as 
AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT, or AutoDesk Civil Design
* Experience using GIS software
