Working days and hours:                      Full time, generally 40
hours per week, Monday through Friday 8:00 to 4:30; flexible during
school semesters
 
 
Overall Objective: Under limited supervision, to perform a variety of
skilled tasks in the area of grassland, wetland, and forest vegetation
inventory, mapping, and monitoring on Open Space and Mountain Parks
properties and to perform related duties as required.
 
Geographic Locations: Cherryvale OSMP Administration
 
Position Duties Assist in monitoring grassland, wetland and/or forest
vegetation using standard protocols.  
Assessments include identification and general descriptions of plant
communities, documentation of rare species and noxious weed species,
photodocumentation, and identification of general management issues.  
Assist with vegetation mapping including quantitative sampling of
communities and the development of localized community descriptions.  
May assist with restoration projects or the care of native
demonstration plantings.  
Other duties include data entry, report writing and the coordination
and supervision of occasional volunteer projects.  
May use the following types of tools and equipment in the performance
of required tasks:  map, compass, aerial photos, clinometer,
densiometer, diameter tape, increment borer, hand held computer, GPS
unit, other monitoring devices, hand tools, and 4WD vehicles.  
Perform basic field repair, cleaning and maintenance of field equipment
as necessary.

Position RequirementsAdvanced level college coursework in Natural
Resources related field.  
Field experience in plant identification in grassland, wetland and
forest ecosystems and knowledge of inventory and monitoring techniques.

Ability to use a variety of inventory and monitoring tools.  
Training or experience in aerial photography interpretation and
mapping.  
Computer experience, especially using Microsoft Excel and Access.  
GPS experience.
Perform work with careful attention to detail and accuracy.  
Self-motivation with the ability to work independently and in teams.  
Physical ability to lift and carry equipment and to stand, walk, and
kneel in rugged, sometimes steep terrain.  

 
Position Desired Requirements
·        Field experience in plant ID in grassland, wetland, and forest
ecosystems along the CO Front Range foothills.
·        Experience field mapping vegetative communities and/or rare
plant populations. 
·        Knowledge of ecological restoration techniques.
·        ArcMap GIS experience. 
·        Certifications in CPR, First-aid, and/or Wildland Fire Red
Card.
