Dear MOBOT and Native Plant listers,

I saw with interest, your notice about the "Genetic considerations in
ecological restoration: an annotated bibliography."

I put together a similar bibliography for journal articles 1880 to the
1990s at http://www.ecoseeds.com/juicy.gossip.three.html in chronological
order.

Of particular interest is Edward Greene's 1905 work on the California
poppy, as well as Gote Tureson's pioneering works in 1922-1931, and
excellent photos in some of the articles, showing the ecotypes visually
expressing their genetic variations in common-garden studies.

You can see common garden photos of the some of the dozens of
genetically-different ecotypes of Bromus carinatus, California brome,
within a 50 mile radius of San Francisco, at
http://www.ecoseeds.com/common.html

The Marin County populations are only 200 feet away from each other, just
growing on radically different soil types, chert and serpentine.

Sincerely, Craig Dremann (650) 325-7333
