AUDUBON CANYON RANCH
HABITAT PROTECTION AND RESTORATION PROJECT LEADER

Audubon Canyon Ranch is a non-profit system of wildlife sanctuaries and
education centers that protects 26 properties in Marin and Sonoma 
counties.

ACR is currently seeking a hard-working, enthusiastic, thoughtful 
individual to serve as Project Leader for ACR's Habitat Protection and 
Restoration program.  The HPR Project Leader will lead in implementation 
of three projects: 1) the Bouverie Preserve vernal pool restoration 
project, 2) ACR's invasive plant EDRR (Early Detection/Rapid Response) 
project, and 3) the Toms Point coastal dune restoration project.  In 
addition, the Project Leader will assist in coordination of a regular 
volunteer program and support other restoration and research projects.

Specific Responsibilities
--Locate, identify, and map invasive plant populations on ACR properties.
--Help prioritize and plan invasive plant eradication actions.
--Control invasive plants using a variety of tools and techniques.
--Supervise periodic volunteer work days.
--Assist in establishment, treatment, and monitoring of field experiments.
--Record field observations, document work verbally and in written 
reports.

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
--Strong knowledge of the native and non-native flora of Marin and Sonoma
counties.
--Field experience in ecological restoration, ecological research,
environmental project management, or related work.
--Working knowledge of MS Excel and Word.
--Ability to work efficiently and independently, maintaining motivation
while doing physically challenging field work.
--Strong organizational skills, ability to coordinate complex task
schedules.

Desired skills
--Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, GIS mapping and inventory
techniques.
--Experience managing community-based volunteer restoration programs.
--QAL or QAC.
--Familiarity with or experience managing coastal dunes, riparian forests,
coastal wetlands, vernal pools, coastal grasslands, valley grasslands,
chaparral, oak woodlands, mixed hardwood forests.
--Knowledge of Microsoft Access or other database systems.
--Strong writing ability.

The position is based at ACR's Bouverie Preserve, in Sonoma Valley,
California.  The Project Leader will also conduct field work at ACR's
Coastal Marin preserves, and may also work at home contingent on task
completion.  This is an unbenefited temporary position funded through
February 2008 at 37.5 hours/week.  Pay is $14 to $16 per hour, depending 
on experience.

organizational topology of habitat restoration in the S.F. Bay Area.  The
work is fulfilling and the job sites are among the most beautiful in the
