Red Butte Garden and the Utah Native Plant Society (UNPS) are pleased to
announce that the 6th annual co-sponsored rare plant task force
meeting will be held in Salt Lake City, Utah on Tuesday, March 6,
2007, from 10am to 5pm. The meeting location will be at the
historic and recently refurbished Chase Mill located near the Tracy
Aviary within Liberty Park (close to downtown Salt Lake City). For
further information about the meeting location see:
www.tracyaviary.org/Directions.htm.
The agenda will be similar to those of past years, and we are inviting
anyone that may be interested to prepare and present 10-20 minute
presentations on one of the following topics, 1) updates on last
year's or ongoing rare plant projects, 2) discussions of upcoming
project, 3) discussions of methods and protocol for work on rare
plants, and 4) general discussions or updates of particular taxa.
There will also be a social hour at the Mill immediately following
the presentations.
A CPC partner institution, Red Butte Garden is a regional botanical
center which is a part of the University of Utah in Salt Lake City,
Utah.
The Utah Native Plant Society is a 501(c)(3) organization founded in
1978 and its mission includes the preservation and
conservation of native plant species in the Intermountain West.
There is a nominal registration fee of $10 which includes the cost of
lunch. Because of space limitations, attendance to the meetings has
typically been on an invitation basis but we certainly would like to
extend that invitation to others who may be interested or who may be
working on projects relating to Utah's rare plants.
If interested, please send an e-mail to unps at unps.org by Tuesday,
February 20.
