Going Native Garden Tour seeks volunteers
Sun, April 30, 2006, 10am-4pm
The fourth annual Going Native Garden Tour will feature 46 native gardens
located throughout the Santa Clara Valley and Peninsula. These gardens
demonstrate the many benefits of native plant gardening: beauty, water
conservation, habitat, low maintenance, and independence from chemical
fertilizers and pesticides. Admission is free; registration is required
at http://www.goingnativegardentour.org.
The tour is seeking volunteers to serve as greeters or docents at one of
the gardens on tour day, Sunday, April 30, 2006. Greeters welcome
visitors, have them sign guestbooks, and answer general questions;
knowledge of native plant gardening is not necessary. Docents conduct
guided tours of the garden; they have gardening knowledge and familiarity
with the assigned garden.
Volunteering for the tour is a great way to enhance your knowledge of
native plant gardening. Volunteers receive invitations to visit private
native gardens throughout the year, most of which have plant lists, and
to the annual potluck in May.
To volunteer for the Going Native Garden Tour, visit
