Trappings of protection: Keeping illegally obtained Venus' flytraps off 
the black market

Boiling Spring Lakes | Hunched on her knees in the narrow ditch, Laura 
Gadd removed soil from around the base of the small plant and dabbed glue 
and then orange dye onto the Venus' flytrap.

"So all the inspector has to do in the nursery is move a little dirt with 
his finger to see if the plant has been marked," said the botantist with 
the state's Plant Conservation Program.
