The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is seeking a horticulturist with significant public garden experience to guide the improvement and expansion of the Center's native plant gardens.    The Director of Horticulture will report directly to the Executive Director and will have lead responsibility for overseeing the design, management, and maintenance of the gardens and growing operations.  Specific duties will include:  recruitment, training, and supervision of horticultural staff; development and supervision of horticultural volunteers; management of nursery operations and plant sales; BG Base/ plant records; development of a horticultural education program; budget and contract management; and outreach to other organizations.  Successful candidates will demonstrate extensive horticultural and management expertise, knowledge of landscape design principles, and commitment to native plant conservation.  Bachelor's degree in horticulture or related field required; advanced degree is strongly preferred.  Excellent oral and written communications skills are essential.  Fundraising experience is preferred.  Salary and benefits competitive and commensurate with experience.  The Center is an equal opportunity employer.
