Establishment.  A 3-yr assistantship funded by the Florida Department of
Transportation is available in September 2004 for studying and developing
methods to establish native wildflower plantings on roadsides in rural
areas.  Best management practices will be developed and then incorporated
into FDOT State Maintenance Office and Environmental Management Office
publications that specify or recommend practices to be used in the
establishment or maintenance of wildflower plantings.  The half-time
assistantship includes a stipend of $20,000/year and tuition waiver. There
are also funds for travel and part-time support.
