The Sixth Central Illinois Prairie Conference
September 20 and 21, 2003
Parkland College, Champaign, IL

Organized by: Grand Prairie Friends of Illinois
(http://www.prairienet.org/gpf).
Sponsored in part by: Parkland College, Champaign County Forest Preserve
District, Urbana Park District, Champaign County Design and Conservation
Foundation, and a grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

You are invited to participate in a conference that will bring together
scientists, land managers and prairie enthusiasts to discuss and explore
prairie ecology, management, restoration, and education in central Illinois.

What to expect:
Dr. Roger Anderson will be the Saturday morning keynote speaker followed by
concurrent sessions featuring more than 30 speakers on topics that will
cover prairie ecology, flora, fauna, restoration, and education.

There will be a silent auction with items donated by local artists,
authors, and conference participants. Funds from the auction will be used
by Grand Prairie Friends for stewardship of local prairie remnants. Please
come ready to bid and buy. Live potted prairie plants will be given away to
lucky participants.

Saturday will end with a catered evening banquet that will feature the
stunning photography of Mike Jeffords and Sue Post.

On Sunday, there are four field trips scheduled to local prairie remnants
and restorations. Also on Sunday morning there will be a state steward's
forum. This event will bring together managers of natural areas to discuss
funding and management needs.

Please feel free to forward this information to all interested people.
