</b>Leading an urban land trust, spend a lot of time talking about the benefits of green spaces in cities and sharing out about how Baltimore Green Space (BGS) helps communities understand, protect, and manage small neighborhood forests, also known as forest
“patches.” It’s gratifying to see how the model we’ve developed—which involves research partnerships, technical assistance and training, convening and community organizing, and policy development and advocacy—is gaining traction in cities all over the United
States.</span></p>

seven years working as the Program Director. Born and raised in Baltimore, she came to this work through her love of Baltimore, nature, and communities. Katie has more than 16 years of experience in community organizing, designing non-profit programs, and
creating educational programs. She earned a Master's Degree in Environmental Education from Lesley University, while living outdoors in different bio-regions. She earned her Bachelor's degree at Goucher College in Elementary Education with a Minor in Peace
Studies.</span></p>
