<div><span style="font-size:14px">On Thursday, two new scientific summations on the risks and harms of fracking were released at a press conference in Albany. </span></div>
<div><span style="font-size:14px"><br>

<div><span style="font-size:14px">First, Physicians Scientists & Engineers for Healthy Energy <a href="http://psehealthyenergy.org/site/view/1233" target="_blank">released a working paper analysis</a>, in the form of a statistical evaluation of the approximately 400 peer-reviewed
studies to date on the impacts of shale gas development.</span></div>

<div><span style="font-size:14px">In short, this team examined what percentage of papers indicated risks/adverse impacts versus no indication of risk. </span></div>
<div><span style="font-size:14px"><br>
</span></div>
<div><span style="font-size:14px">Key highlights: 96% of all papers on health indicate risks/adverse health outcomes; 95% of all original research studies on air quality indicate elevated concentrations of air pollutants; 72% of original research studies
on water quality indicate contamination or risk thereof. </span></div>

<div><span style="font-size:14px">The PSE analysis also illustrates the recent explosion in the number of peer-reviewed publications: approximately 73% of all available peer-reviewed papers have been published in the past 24 months. The rate of publication
is now approaching about one paper a day.</span></div>

<div><span style="font-size:14px">Second, my own group, Concerned Health Professionals of New York, <a href="http://concernedhealthny.org/compendium/" target="_blank">released a second edition of the Compendium of scientific, medical, and media findings of risks and harms
of fracking</a>. </span></div>

<div><span style="font-size:14px">At 103 pages and with 448 citations, the Compendium compiles and concisely summarizes the most important findings. Although the second edition comes only 5 months after the first, it's about 30% longer now with more than
80 new entries. </span></div>
